Security robot drowns itself in a fountain
A new security robot brought in to help monitor an office in Washington DC ended up committing suicide.
The Knightscope K5 security robot, which looks a bit like something out of a Star Wars movie, managed to prematurely end its own existence this week by trundling straight in to a fountain.
"Our D.C. office building got a security robot," office employee Bilal Farooqui wrote on Twitter. "It drowned itself. We were promised flying cars, instead we got suicidal robots."
An image of the contraption lying helpless in the water has since gone viral online.
Developed by California-based company Knightscope, this particular line of robots comes equipped with an array of special cameras designed to help out security personnel.
Sadly, none of these appear to have helped this particular unit avoid an untimely, watery end.
